Press Release Body: Irvine, CA, September 9, 2008 -- The Association of Strategic
Alliance Professionals (ASAP) is pleased to announce that Larraine Segil will
keynote its first event in Southern California on Thursday, October 2, at 6 pm at
the University Club at UCI/Irvine. Segil, a renowned expert in alliances and
strategic partnerships, will speak on “Organizational Lifecycles and Alliance
Success: The Critical Component of Cultural Compatibility.”

According to Segil, there is a key point in the life of an alliance at which the
cultural relationship/fit becomes the predominant measure of how the partnership is
faring. Coincidentally or not, this comes at the same point at which 60% of all
alliances fail, making this intersection a particularly critical one.
Segil will detail the three levels of strategic alliance culture—corporate,
individual/managerial, and “project personality”—and define a structural format for
best processes in alliance management.
Participants are encouraged to bring their alliance concerns and challenges to this
program.

Segil has served Global 100 and Fortune 500 companies assisting them to create and
manage their critical business relationships with suppliers, alliances, joint
ventures or channel partners. She has worked with businesses in healthcare,
technology, consumer products, manufacturing, aerospace, and financial services,
among others. A Partner Emeritus and former owner and director of Vantage Partners,
a privately held consulting firm with expertise in building competency in both
internal and external relationship management, Segil now consults individually with
senior executives and companies worldwide.

ASAP is the leading global professional organization focused on alliance formation
and management, emphasizing best practices, professional development and networking.
Jim Chow, Senior Director, Alliances and Channels, LiveOps and president of ASAP’s
Silicon Valley/NorCal chapter, invites the SoCal strategic alliance community to
this inaugural regional event. “The ASAP community is a great resource for those of
us who are looking to become better business partners,” said Chow. “Connecting
locally can be curiously groundbreaking, creating global ripples. We are grateful
to Valeant Pharmaceuticals and Vantage Partners for sponsoring this great networking
opportunity and are thrilled to benefit from Larraine’s wisdom and experience.” For
